Melanie Hetzel-Riggin is the president of NWPPA. She has been a member for 10 years. Currently, she is the Director of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend. She is also a Professor of Psychology at Penn State Behrend. Her professional interests align with ensuring there is a coordinated community response to social determinations of health, trauma, and interpersonal violence, as well as ensuring that there is an implementation and communication of strategies for resiliency building and prevention science. She has achieved a Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University. She believes that NWPPA can offer members a strong sense of community for psychologists with plenty of opportunities for networking and continuing education. NWPPA also provides affiliation within the profession of psychology.
